I’ve finally reached that stage where the tomatoes are just too many to eat. I’ve canned a few tomato sauces and plum tomatoes. It's shocking how many tomatoes it takes to fill a jar. I’m looking forward to opening a jar in the winter when summer is a faint memory.
I’m also having fun making labels for my jars….

I had two tomatos from my plants this year... not quite enough for a jar me thinks?
LOL! That is so sad John :-)
I do have one tomato plant that has all green tomatoes and I'm not sure if it's goind to make the fall frost deadline. May-be try a tomato plant next year that is coded "early season"? And add some bone meal to the soil, it may help.
Love those labels, Liane. It makes the jars look so inviting. ^_^
I have many green tomatoes left also but have decided to try a couple different recipes for canning them that may work well...like maybe some pickled green tomatoes, anyone?? ^_^
Sounds good Tish!
I heard recently you could wrap the green tomatoes in newspaper to ripen them.
They promised the newsprint wouldn't rub off...we'll see :-)
